Update from the JBLC Meeting held on 10th May 2014
From the meeting of the Joint Breed Liaison Committee (JBLC) on 10th May 2014 the following actions are being / will be progressed :-
- Discussion to take place with AHT/OptiGen geneticists re further analysis of CEA incidence once results come back from the 20:20 clinic.
- Communication is ongoing with owners of Beardies worldwide that are connected to the affected dog to include necessity of testing.
- Draft Job Descriptions are being prepared for the roles of Breed Health Co-ordinator (in addition to the KC requirements for the role of BHC), Secretary and Chair. Yvonne Fox is to remain as Secretary. Elizabeth Kershaw is to remain as BHC. Bob Gregory was offered the role of Chair of the JBLC and accepted. All roles will be reviewed as to who will be the incumbents with effect from January 2015.
- The JBLC are continuing to try to get an update on research into autoimmune conditions from Lorna Kennedy/Andrea Short
- A DNA Data Bank with the Animal HealthTrust (AHT) is being considered for Bearded Collies. A Flyer is being prepared along with an information sheet
- A joint database for mailings is yet to be finalised.
- The Health Survey is almost complete with a further analysis taking place in June.
- The JBLC 20:20 clinic was a great success with 84 Beardies taking part - thanks to all concerned for their help. A decision on when and where another clinic could be arranged is ongoing. Val Tiller is holding a clinic on 16th September.
- A CEA Seminar has been provisionally scheduled for 25th October 2014 – The venue and speakers are to be confirmed.
- A grant of £800 from the KC Charitable Trust has been received to help with further analysis of the Health Survey.
- The JBLC are continuing to review its Constitution which requires further consideration by Club Committees.
